To eero block unwanted devices on your Eero network, you can do the following:
- Open the Eero app on your smartphone or tablet and tap on the “Devices” tab.
- Tap on the device that you want to block.
- Tap on the “Block” button to block the device from accessing your Eero network.
- Confirm the action by tapping on the “Block” button in the pop-up window.
Please note that you will need to be connected to your Eero network and have the Eero app installed on your device in order to eero block devices on your network. Additionally, you may need to update the Eero app to the latest version in order to access this feature.
Your home network is given an additional layer of protection by eero Secure, which is a feature that comes standard with Blue Ridge HomeFi subscription. eero Secure consists of the following components:
Your computers and mobile devices are shielded from malicious software, viruses, and phishing attacks with Advanced Network Security.
Block Ads eliminates advertisements and pop-up windows from webpages and mobile applications. You have the option of activating this feature for certain user profiles or for the entire network.
SafeSearch filters out any webpages, photos, or videos that might be deemed improper from the results of a search. Individual user profiles have the option to turn this feature on.
The user’s profile determines which explicit, unlawful, or violent content is blocked by Content Filters.
How Do I Enable Or Disable eero Block?
Enhanced Protection for Networks:
- Tap the eero Discover button within the eero app to learn more about the device.
- Tap eero Secure.
- To turn the function on or off, select the eero Advanced Security option from the menu.
- Block Ads:
- To prevent advertisements from appearing throughout your entire network:
- Tap the Discover button within the eero app.
- Tap eero Secure.
- To turn this function on or off, simply tap the eero block new devices Ads button.
- To prevent advertisements from appearing for certain user profiles:
- Tap the eero Discover button within the eero app to learn more about the device.
- Tap eero Secure.
- Block access to the network.
- In the event that you do not see this option, ensure that the eero blocked device still connected to the Ads toggle is turned on.
- To get control over individual profiles, turn off the network connection.
- Choose one or more profiles that you want to exclude from having advertisements displayed on them.
Filters for Safe Search and Website Content:
- Tap the eero Discover button within the eero app to learn more about the device.
- Tap eero Secure.
- Tap Content Filters.
- Tap the Profile for which you want to enable content filtering, and then tap the Content Filtering toggle.
- If given the option, select the appropriate filter level for the user’s age, such as Pre-K, Pre-Teen, or Teen, depending on your preference.
- Check out the many filter options that are given. To confirm, tap the Apply button.
You will then be presented with a screen that allows you to turn individual Content Filters on or off. You are able to turn on or off SafeSearch from this screen. Adult content, anything that is illegal or criminal, violent content, chat and messaging, social media, online games, online shopping, and streaming videos are examples of the types of content eero block devices from the internet. When the toggle is turned on, the content in question will be prohibited.
You can use the Back button to go back to the Content Filters screen, or you can use the Home button to go back to the main menu. Your preferences will be used going forward.
Touch Content Filters, choose the profile whose settings you want to modify, and then tap Edit in the top right corner of the screen to make changes to the Content Filter settings that have already been applied. Choose the sort of filtering that you want to be applied to the profile. By default, content filtering will be disabled whenever the Adult option is selected.
How do I decide which websites to allow and which to block?
- Tap the eero Discover button within the eero app to learn more about the device.
- Tap eero Secure.
- Select Block & Allow Sites from the menu.
- To block or allow access, select the appropriate tab.
- Tap the “Add Blocked Site” button when you want to block a certain website or domain. Tap the “Add Allowed Site” button in order to whitelist or unblock a website or domain.
- Enter the domain name of the website. To find out more, tap the I button.
- If you enter com, for instance, you will prevent access to any and all pages and subdomains on example.com.
- Do not enter “www” or “http://”.
- Toggle Network to apply the change to all profiles, or toggle Network off and select the profile(s) to which you want the change to be applied.
- If prompted, select an allow reason of your choosing.
- To save your changes, tap the Save button.
Help! It appears that an inappropriate website has been restricted.
The first thing you should do is open the eero app, navigate to Discover > eero Secure > Block & Allow Sites, and check the list of websites that have been blocked by your network. If the website in question is not in the list, then the site has not been prohibited by your network. To delete a website from the list of sites you have blocked, tap the website, and then tap the Delete Site button.
Blocking advertisements may potentially have unforeseen implications, such as preventing access to a website inadvertently. To determine whether or not this is the source of your problem, open the eero app and go to Discover > eero Secure > Block Ads. From there, turn off the option. Make another attempt to visit the webpage.
